Classroom lesson · 50–60 minutes

A teaching sequence

  1. Organize

Create MyPiProjects with Documents, Programs, and Notes folders. Save a short reflection as computer_thoughts.txt in Notes.

  2. Use the terminal

Explore pwd, ls, and cd. Open the reflection with nano from ~/MyPiProjects/Notes and save a change.

  3. Write and run

In Thonny, write a program that asks for a name and prints a greeting. Save hello_pi.py in Programs, then run it from the terminal with python3.

  4. Reflect

Use system-information commands to explore the machine. Explain what the desktop, terminal, and Python each contributed.
